Voyeur by Australian choreographer Clare Dyson will make its U.S. premiere Jan. 21.
The contemporary dance piece challenges the traditional audience experience by inviting audience members to view the piece from onstage through specially designed peepholes, making them voyeurs to the action of two dancers at the center of the stage. Each vantage point offers its own advantages and disadvantages; some points have headphones with recordings of dancers' inner monologues, some have binoculars and some provide broader views than others.
Dyson is an award-winning choreographer and collaborates with her lighting-designer brother Mark Dyson to create her performance installations.
