TWO GRAND PIANOS STILL NEEDED

Da Camera pledges to help HSPVA replace pianos

It appears the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is well on its way to replacing the 12 pianos it lost when a partnership with a local piano retailer ended this winter.

Ten uprights have already been secured, with seven new instruments and three donated. However, two grand pianos are still needed. The alumni group, HSPVA Friends, has almost raised the funds for the purchase of one of these, but at around $12,000 a pop, there is still work to be done to finance the purchase of the last instrument.

Donations are tax-deductible. If you'd like to help, checks can be made out to: HSPVA Friends (Piano Project) and sent to HSPVA Friends, 4119 Montrose Blvd., Ste. 210, Houston 77006.

To help out,  Da Camera of Houston has pledged to donate $5 of every ticket sold to Seymour Lipkin's Jan. 26 recital at the Menil to the HSPVA Friend's Piano Project.
