Argyles, knickers, whacky plaids — the Hermann Park Golf Course clubhouse had never seen such a confusion of fashion as it did on Friday night. It was golf-style-gone-wild when Glasstire and Fresh Arts Coalition put their arty heads together for their zany fundraiser. Embracing the "Be the Ball" theme, partygoers took on everything from Caddyshack to the tennis courts to the polo fields. The frightening part of this fashion satire was that many of the so-called costumes came from the guests' closets.
Pearls, cashmeres and perfect smiles — these three musketeers of the sweater set dressed straight from their closets.
So she is looking rather chic in her red leather jacket but he must have been dressed for gopher eradication. The invitation granted underwriters a "license to kill gophers" a la Caddyshack.
A little up-close-and-personal golf instruction never hurts the score or the romance as these two will attest.
Ever the fashion dandy, although we have seen him stepping out in "biker chic" on occasion, George Lancaster, wore Lilly Pulitzer for this photo op in front of the Hermann Park mural backdrop. This party really did take place at night.
They admit to knowing little about golf but links fashion — yes! They found their stunning green and yellow argyle shorts at loudmouthgolf.com. Her fashionable pearls came from Claire's.
Rainey Knudson and Marita Fairbanks had their multi-plaid dresses specially made for the annual fundraiser for which they always dress in tandem. Knudson heads Glasstire and Fairbanks runs Fresh Arts Coalition.
Channeling Caddyshack's Rodney Dangerfield, Matthew Wettergreen dispensed beer from his golf bag, never mind that it was mostly foam coming out of the dispenser.
