BOLD & BEAUTIFUL

Azaleas are late this year, but they're finally blooming

March 21st, 2010 at 8:00 AM

In most years, azaleas have come and gone by now. But this hasn't been a normal spring.

The  unusually cold and rainy weather delayed the blooming cycle so that only a precious few of the colorful flowers were on display during the Azalea Trail a couple of weeks ago. Since then, the bold and beautiful flowers have finally come out.

These photos, taken at Bayou Bend Gardens before the weather turned unusually brisk this weekend, show the flowers in eye-popping fuchsia, pink and white.

But who knows how long they will last?
